All vehicle rentals in Middleton are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or vehicle collection. This document outlines the terms, conditions, insurance provisions, charges, and your responsibilities regarding the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.

Rental Requirements Overview
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Middleton, drivers must be a minimum of 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on vehicle type, with extra fees for those under 25. A valid and full driving licence, appropriate for the selected vehicle category, must be held for the duration specified in the Rental Agreement. Renters are required to present valid identification and proof of their current address, along with payment details and a security deposit. Additional criteria may apply as outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Options
- Reservations can be made via our website, by phone, or directly at our Middleton office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment and security deposit are generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All pricing is listed in British Pounds (£) and includes applicable VAT. We accept major credit and debit cards, with transactions processed securely through established payment providers.
Vehicle Pick-Up and Drop-Off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed by both parties. The vehicle must be returned in the same condition as it was collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may result in additional charges. Ensure that the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as received; refueling fees will apply if the level is lower. If you anticipate returning the vehicle late, please notify us as soon as possible, as late returns may incur extra charges. You will be responsible for any parking fees, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Policies
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance as standard. Full details regarding coverage and excess amounts are outlined in the Rental Agreement. You may opt for additional insurance options to lower your financial risk. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless additional insurance is purchased. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Uses of Vehicles
- The vehicle may not be used for any illegal activities. This includes racing, off-roading, or any hazardous driving practices. Transporting dangerous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle must not be used for purposes it was not designed for, nor should it exceed specified passenger or weight limits. Traveling outside the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Middleton Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the total amount you paid for your rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence, or for fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
